Have you ever dropped a peppermint candy into coffee? Before keto, we loved doing this during the holidays: pop a candy into the bottom of a cup, pour hot coffee over it, and enjoy the quick peppermint infusion.
That tradition inspired a keto-friendly version: after testing a few recipes, I developed these simple Peppermint Coffee Flavor Shots. Each shot delivers about 16 g of healthy fats and a bright peppermint flavor.
To use them:
- Sweeten hot coffee to taste
- Drop in a flavor shot and let it melt
- Add heavy whipping cream or unsweetened almond or coconut milk if desired

Each shot brings peppermint plus coconut oil and MCT oil. Think of them as peppermint fat bombs for your coffee—convenient, flavorful, and easy to store in the freezer.
Ingredients Needed for Keto Peppermint Flavor Shots
MCT Oil

MCT oil adds quick, energizing medium-chain triglycerides to the shots.
- Coconut oil
- Peppermint extract — a standard peppermint extract works well
Fat bomb molds (recommended)
A 24-slot fat bomb mold works great; each slot holds about 1 tbsp + 1 tsp. You can also use other silicone molds or small ice-cube trays.
How to Make Keto Peppermint Flavor Shots
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the coconut oil. Remove from heat, then stir in the MCT oil and peppermint extract. Mix thoroughly so the peppermint is evenly distributed.
If you’re not using the recommended molds, aim for about 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract per cup of coffee for a strong peppermint flavor; reduce to taste for a milder result.

Set your molds on a cutting board or baking sheet before filling. Carefully pour or spoon the mixture into each slot. With the 24-slot mold I used, I filled each slot with 1 tablespoon of mixture and then topped with 1 teaspoon for the right volume.
Transfer the filled molds to the freezer and freeze for at least 1½ hours. When solid, pop the shots out and store them in a freezer-safe bag or container until ready to use.

How to Use Keto Peppermint Flavor Shots
Sweeten a 6 oz cup of hot coffee to your preferred sweetness.

Add a peppermint flavor shot to the coffee. Let it melt completely, stirring if needed. Once melted, add heavy whipping cream or unsweetened almond or coconut milk to taste. I often add about 1/4 cup carton coconut milk for a rich, balanced flavor, but adjust to your preference.

Enjoy. Each flavor shot contains roughly 16 g of fat—an easy way to add healthy fats and a festive peppermint twist to your morning coffee.

You can also try these shots in keto hot chocolate—skip the butter and use a flavor shot instead for peppermint-rich fat and flavor.
