Ben’s Monster Mash Party Ideas and Costume Guide

I put together this fun Monster Mash recipe because we had a surprise snow day, it was Halloween, and I was craving something spooky and sweet.

  1. I was bored (we had a totally random snow day)
  2. It was Halloween
  3. I wanted something gooey and green — monster goo!

When I first served this to my mom she liked it. Here’s the little story I told her:

I went into the backyard and imagined finding a giant multi-eyed monster. With my trusty sword and my imaginary friend Dragonpuff™, we transformed the monster into a ghoulish, slimy, surprisingly tasty pulp. This drink is very sweet and quite pulpy, so if you don’t like pulp in your orange juice, this might not be for you.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup V-8 Fusion Pomegranate Blueberry (or another unsweetened fruit-and-vegetable blend with a similar color)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • Frozen raspberries (these are the “monster brains”)

Instructions

  1. Pour the juice, applesauce, and as many frozen raspberries as you like into a cup.
  2. Stir until the applesauce and juice are well combined and slightly pulpy.
  3. Serve in a spooky cup if you want to make it extra festive.

This is a quick, kid-friendly beverage with low added sugar and a fun Halloween vibe. It makes about 1 cup and takes roughly five minutes to prepare.

Enjoy Ben’s Monster Mash — happy Halloween!
