Summer feels close when most meals become smoothies and salads — or when you peer out the window at clouds and rain. At least it’s not freezing; fun fact: 40 years ago on this day (June 3rd) it was snowing in the UK. So a bit of rain seems fine.

These days I often feel like the days are shorter — probably because I stay up far too late, lost in Photoshop or scrolling through social media. Suddenly it’s 2 a.m. and I have to be up in a few hours to face the day. On mornings like that, when there’s barely time to brush your hair or find matching socks, a liquid breakfast is the best solution.
A refreshing, nutritious smoothie is an ideal way to start the day — unless you prefer bourbon, in which case you might have other priorities. I like to pour mine into a cute jar (I’ve mentioned my jar obsession before) and often boost smoothies with a few “superfoods.” They make me feel virtuous and genuinely add flavor and nutrients.
For this smoothie I used a little acai powder, which pairs wonderfully with berries, though it’s optional. If you’re not familiar: acai berries are extremely nutrient-dense. Harvested from palms in the Amazon, they provide B vitamins, minerals and electrolytes that help support energy, recovery and immune function. Acai is also linked to skin-supporting antioxidants and may aid detoxification — all great reasons to give it a try.

Give this smoothie a go and celebrate the start of the weekend — it’s Friday!
