When I developed this Candy Corn Blondies recipe, someone asked, “Yum — but why candy corn?” The simple answer: candy corn is playful, nostalgic, and kids love it. It also turns out a surprising number of adults enjoy it too. These blondies are bright, festive, and just plain fun to bake and serve.
I first made them with my 6th grade neighbor, Nelle. We’ve been doing weekly baking lessons together. Each week we brainstorm new ideas; her creativity inspired other recipes, and she’s the reason many fun treats have come to life. For this recipe, we were both thinking about Halloween, and candy corn felt like the perfect seasonal touch.

This Blondie recipe is pure, unadulterated FUN!
October and candy corn go hand in hand. Even if many adults have moved past their candy corn days, there’s no denying the joyful nostalgia it brings. We wanted to capture that feeling in a baked treat — so we baked candy corn into blondies. The result is whimsical and comforting at the same time.
Candy Corn Blondies are a great way to use leftover candy corn
This blondie recipe is quick and approachable — simple enough for kids to help with and useful for using up any candy corn that’s left after Halloween. The batter comes together easily, and the finished blondies are rich, chewy, and festive.
Something magical happens as the candy corn bakes in the blondies
At first, some friends hesitate when I tell them the blondies have candy corn in them. But after the first bite, most people are pleasantly surprised. The candy corn melts and caramelizes slightly during baking, producing toasted, caramel-like notes that complement the brown-butter and brown-sugar base. It’s warm, familiar, and irresistibly sweet.
The flavor of these Candy Corn Blondies is reminiscent of caramel corn
The caramelized candy corn plus the nutty richness of browned butter creates a flavor profile similar to caramel corn — but in a soft blondie form. The texture is chewy and homey, and the bites with hidden, melty candy corn are especially satisfying. Even self-proclaimed candy corn skeptics often come back for seconds.

Browning the butter adds rich depth to basic Blondies
Browning the butter adds a warm, nutty layer of flavor and improves the chewiness of the blondies. It’s a small extra step that elevates this simple recipe from ordinary to memorable. Watch the butter closely so it develops color and aroma without burning, then cool it briefly before combining with the other ingredients.
How to make Candy Corn Blondies

Reserve ½ cup of candy corn to dot the top of the blondies
We found the best method is to fold half of the candy corn into the batter so those pieces melt and caramelize during baking. Reserve the remaining half cup and press those whole pieces into the top of the warm blondies as they cool for a classic candy corn look and texture on the surface.

The inside of each blondie reveals pockets of caramelized candy corn, while the pressed whole pieces on top maintain that signature candy corn bite. The contrast of melty interior bits and waxy surface pieces makes these blondies fun to eat and visually festive.

Recipe
Candy Corn Blondies
- Author: Becky Sue of Baking The Goods
- Yield: 16 blondies
Description
Nostalgic candy corn meets aromatic browned butter in these rich, soft, and homey Candy Corn Blondies. They’re topped with fresh candy corn and optionally finished with a sprinkle of sea salt flakes for balance.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 ¼ cups brown sugar
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup candy corn (divide into ½ cup for batter and ½ cup for topping)
- 1–2 teaspoons sea salt flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9x2-inch metal baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, swirling occasionally. Watch as the butter turns from yellow to a deeper golden color and small toasted bits form. When the butter foams and gives off a nutty aroma, remove it from the heat immediately. Pour the browned butter and any solids into a heatproof bowl or liquid measuring cup and let cool for about 15 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Once the browned butter has cooled to touch, whisk it together with the brown sugar in a mixing bowl until combined. Stir in the eggs and vanilla until fully incorporated. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Fold in ½ cup of the candy corn, reserving the remaining ½ cup for topping.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan, using a spatula or your hands to press it flat. Hiding most of the candy corn under the batter creates a smooth top for baking.
- Bake for about 25–30 minutes, until a tester inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs. Edges should be deep golden and set; the center should be moist but not raw.
- Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for a few minutes. While still warm but slightly cooled, gently press the reserved ½ cup of candy corn into the top in a random pattern. Let cool for at least 20–30 minutes so the candy corn adheres and the blondies firm up.
- Lift the blondie slab from the pan using the parchment overhang and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into 16 squares and serve slightly warm or at room temperature. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes if desired.
Notes
Store blondies in an airtight container for up to one week. They can be enjoyed slightly warm or at room temperature; a quick microwave zap refreshes the soft texture.
