Abby Dodge’s Desserts 4 Today Cookbook Review + Giveaway

img 6856 1Earlier this week I shared a fantastic recipe for 4‑Ingredient Nutella Brownies from Abby Dodge’s new cookbook, Desserts 4 Today. Each recipe in this clever, streamlined cookbook requires only four ingredients — a dream come true for busy dessert lovers. I’ve tried several recipes already: a cinnamon‑basil ice cream that converted my doubtful husband into a basil‑ice‑cream believer, and an Orange‑Scented White Chocolate‑Blackberry Mousse. Every recipe I’ve made has been a delight.

I recently met Abby at an all‑day workshop in Bucks County, PA, where we both spoke. She is warm, approachable, and passionate about food. Abby is a seasoned cookbook author with seven titles to her name, including work for the Williams‑Sonoma series. She’s also a pastry chef and a contributing editor for Fine Cooking Magazine, and she maintains a helpful website at AbbyDodge.com.

Abby kindly gave me a copy of Desserts 4 Today, and I fell for it immediately. The idea of a book with 125 dessert recipes that use just four ingredients is simple and brilliant — ideal for a busy parent who still wants to serve homemade treats. The recipes are straightforward, flavorful, and realistic for everyday cooking.

Each recipe layout is thoughtful: ingredients are listed in a left sidebar and clear directions appear on the right. The photography is honest and appetizing, showing exactly what to expect from each recipe. Many of the ingredients are common pantry staples, which makes trying the recipes even easier.

Because Abby has written other cookbooks — including titles focused on baking and cooking with kids — her instructions are accessible and kid‑friendly. Many of these desserts are simple enough for older children to prepare with little supervision. These everyday desserts satisfy both family members and guests, and I’d recommend this cookbook to anyone who loves sweets, especially families.

Abby and her publisher, Taunton Press, generously provided three copies of Desserts 4 Today for Savory Sweet Life readers.
