This slow cooker fruit jam recipe contains no added sugar and uses just three wholesome ingredients. It’s naturally sweetened with dates and fits paleo and Whole30 guidelines, though you can substitute honey or maple syrup if you prefer.

Summer fruit makes the best jam—fresh peaches, strawberries, apricots and berries turn into vibrant preserves with minimal effort. This recipe calls for fruit, chia seeds to thicken, and dates as a natural sweetener. Berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) work particularly well; high-water fruits like watermelon or cantaloupe are less suitable. Choose ripe, flavorful fruit for the best results.

- Total Time: 2 hours 5 mins
- Yield: 2 cups
Ingredients
- 1 lb fruit, chopped
- 2–3 tsp chia seeds
- 3–4 dates, chopped (or 2 tsp honey or maple syrup)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to the slow cooker.
- Stir to combine thoroughly.
- Cook on HIGH for 1–2 hours or LOW for 2–3 hours, until the fruit and dates are very soft.
- Use an immersion blender, potato masher, or a spoon to mash the mixture to your desired jam consistency.
- Transfer the jam to a lidded container or mason jar. Let cool, then refrigerate.
A few helpful tips: resist the urge to add extra liquid—fruit releases plenty of juices as it cooks. The jam will continue to thicken as it cools, especially overnight, so expect a firmer texture the next day. If you prefer a smoother jam, blend more thoroughly; if you like chunks, mash lightly.

Store the jam in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Combine different fruits for unique flavors—strawberry-blueberry is a favorite blend—but be mindful of the water content of each fruit. Enjoy on toast, yogurt, or as a topping for desserts.
