I’ve talked about losing weight on and off for years, but since moving to Arizona I let myself slack. After we get back from Hawaii, I’m going almost entirely sugar-free — a huge change for our household. To make the shift easier, we’ve started small family adjustments, beginning with our Family Night traditions.
In the past we stocked up on junk food and soda. Tonight we tried a simple, healthier snack using Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop popcorn.
The kids love helping in the kitchen, but I get nervous around the gas stove, so I microwave what I can and save the trickier steps for when they’re not underfoot. This healthy trail mix is great because it’s nutritious and the kids can put it together with minimal supervision.
Healthy Trail Mix with Popcorn
Start with quality ingredients, like Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop®. It’s 94% fat-free and still full of flavor. Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn has been a household favorite for generations, and I have fond memories of popping corn and mixing it with peanut butter while watching TV.
These days I focus more on healthy recipes, and this trail mix is a perfect addition to a family night with better-for-you snacks everyone can enjoy.

Research suggests that microwave popcorn like Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop® can leave people feeling more satisfied and fuller compared with some other 100-calorie snacks.
Orville Redenbacher worked with a small group of family farmers to grow his exclusive, non-GMO, whole-grain kernels. The result is lighter, fluffier popcorn with authentic flavor. For many fans, the real-butter taste is a highlight.
